CUDC Facility
The CUDC is housed in a previously unused retail space on the second story of the Pointe Building, a "flatiron" shaped commercial structure located at the intersection of Huron Road, Prospect Avenue and East Ninth Street in Downtown Cleveland's Historic Gateway neighborhood.

The earliest parts of the building date from 1897 and were designed by architect Fennimore Bates. The structure underwent enlargements and renovations in 1912 and 1922, resulting in the present hybrid brick and steel structure. The second floor was leased by Kent State University in late 1998 and renovated during 1999.

With a few finishing touches still coming into place, the CUDC was occupied by the Urban Design Center and KSU graduate students in early November, and the Grand Opening ceremony was held on December 8, 1999, with Kent State President Carol A. Cartwright and Cleveland Mayor Michael White presiding.

The CUDC's educational facilities include studio space with workstations for twenty-four students, classroom, library, and computer lab. The offices for the UDC staff are supplemented by two meeting rooms -- including the FirstEnergy Pointe Room at the very tip of the building -- and a gallery space.
