Now is our time to Step Up Downtown

On March 18, 2014, close to 150 residents, employees, business owners, and downtown-minded individuals attended the first public meeting held at the Old Stone Church. After a short overview of the project by DCA President Joe Marinucci and CUDC Director Terry Schwarz, attendees were let loose to contribute their ideas at seven engagement stations located throughout the venue.

Downtown Cleveland Alliance’s (DCA) Downtown Vision and Tactical Plan, Step Up Downtown, will create a holistic vision for linking and enhancing Downtown development districts, public spaces and assets.

The final 5-year plan, to be unveiled in June 2014, will set priorities for creating a fully connected and continuous urban fabric. DCA has engaged the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative (CUDC) and Progressive Urban Management Associates (PUMA) to create the comprehensive plan over a six-month process, begun in January 2014.

Feedback from the stations will be processed by the design team and posted to the Step Up Downtown website.

Attendees were asked to recall their their fondest memories of Downtown Cleveland and share the changes they want to see in the next five years at the Story Station. Hear what they had to say below and check out more photos from the event here.
