Paul Allen | Museum of Natural History | April 2, 2014

Paul Allen of the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, UK, will speak on “Zero Carbon Britain – The extraordinary story of human beings and energy.” The Centre for Alternative Technology is one of the top sustainability centers in Europe, and its Zero Carbon Britain policy guidelines have been recognized by the UK Parliament and the EU.

The most recent climate science demonstrates the need to achieve zero carbon emissions as soon as possible. The Zero Carbon Britain project has created detailed scenarios that show how society can rise to the climate challenge without relying on promises of future technology, but by using only that which exists now, ready to be implemented immediately. So far the project has researched and published three reports on rapid decarbonization scenarios. The goal is to stimulate a change of thinking about future possibilities — and help people rethink their relationship to energy.

This is a great opportunity to hear cutting-edge ideas from Europe about energy and climate.

Free with Museum admission (which is $6 for nonmembers on Wednesday evenings).
