This two day advanced workshop is aimed at Architects, Landscape Architects, Planners and Engineers and was conceptualized for both students and practitioners. It will be held by J. T. Tourbier, ASLA, AIP, and Professor of Landscape Architecture of the Dresden University of Technology, who is the author of numerous publications and who has US implementation experience.

The workshop will use a hands-on participatory studio approach to actively involve participants.

Day One: Understanding Sustainable Stormwater Management
A site-specific approach will be used to develop a design concept for a particular area. Participants will learn about a site, related stakeholders, underlying systems, quantification of implications, and plan formulation:

Day Two: Site Application
Findings of day one and inspirations from outstanding installations will be used to develop  alternative design solutions for a study site to be presented and evaluated by work teams:

In Advance: Participants will be supplied with a CD-ROM to review in advance and to bring their laptop. The CD, which will be used throughout the workshop to put together presentations and to analyze options, will contain:

Enrolment in this workshop is limited to 18 participants. The enrollment fee for the two day course is $80. Participants will receive a “Sustainable Stormwater Management Certificate” issued by Kent State University. Registration deadline is August 22, 2008.
