In additional to traditional scholarship conducted by members of the faculty and staff, the CUDC maintains a program of practical or event-based research, investigating key regional problems and developing information about best practices and alternative design approaches

Cataloging and preservation of historic planning documents for use by scholars and professionals

Shrinking Cities Institute
Investigation of emerging design strategies associated with landscape urbanism as applied to cities that have experienced severe population loss in recent decades

Sustainable Campus Design and Maintenance Standards
Design guidelines and information on best practices for campus facilities planners
