E 59th Street

CLEVELAND, OH

The E 59th Street project (Link 59) is located along Cleveland’s Health -Tech Corridor between Chester Ave. and Euclid Ave.  Proposed private sector development suggests four office buildings and retail uses. University Hospitals will also develop a Rainbow Center for Women and Children’s Health on the site. Seeing E. 59th St. as a key link between surrounding neighborhood anchors and future development, Link 59 is proposed to catalyze development potential while setting the stage for a healthy identity in the neighborhood.

Through stakeholder conversations, The CUDC suggested complimentary design strategies to enhance the identity, sustainability, and social spaces of the proposed development in an attempt to make the development the healthiest street in Cleveland. A publicly accessible plaza with storm water features, a community orchard, bike share, play and exercise equipment, and health data monitors on site were all suggested to improve the spaces. A two-mile “Health Loop” with signage was also suggested to situate the development within other recreation and neighborhood destination in the community.
